BRUMP™ — Engineering the Next Generation of Climate-Resilient Drainage Materials

Bio-Engineered Concrete Additives for Carbon Mineralisation and Climate-Resilient Infrastructure

Building Lower-Carbon Infrastructure Through Environmental Biotechnology. BioPave™ is Ecorem Tech's environmental biotechnology platform developing next-generation bio-engineered concrete additives for low-carbon construction materials.

Rather than relying solely on cement replacement, BioPave™ explores biological mineralisation pathways that could support stable carbon mineralisation within concrete while improving durability, resilience and whole-life infrastructure performance.

Designed initially for permeable concrete systems, BioPave™ aims to contribute to more sustainable urban infrastructure that aligns with the UK's Net Zero ambitions and climate adaptation priorities.

Why BioPave™?

BioPave™ is investigating whether a single innovation platform can deliver multiple infrastructure benefits, including:

  • Lower embodied carbon
  • Carbon mineralisation within concrete
  • Improved durability and asset life
  • Climate-resilient infrastructure
  • Sustainable Urban Drainage (SuDS) compatibility
  • Integration into existing concrete manufacturing processes

Potential Applications

BioPave™ is being developed for future deployment across:

  • Permeable concrete paving
  • Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS)
  • Public realm infrastructure
  • Highways and transport infrastructure
  • Commercial developments
  • Local authority projects
  • Low-carbon construction products

Current Development Stage

BioPave™ is currently progressing through TRL 2–3 feasibility validation to establish:

  • technical feasibility
  • commercial viability
  • regulatory pathways
  • market readiness
  • future pilot deployment opportunities

Ecorem Tech is actively engaging with concrete manufacturers, engineering consultancies, infrastructure owners, research organisations and strategic partners to accelerate development towards commercialisation.

Bio-Reactive Drainage Materials for Smarter Urban Infrastructure

Bio-Reactive Drainage Materials for Smarter Urban Infrastructure. Building Active Infrastructure for Cleaner Water and Greater Climate Resilience. BRUMP™ (Bio-Reactive Urban Materials Platform) is Ecorem Tech's advanced materials innovation platform developing BioFlow-Core™—a next-generation bio-reactive drainage material designed to transform conventional drainage systems into active environmental infrastructure.

Rather than simply conveying stormwater, BioFlow-Core™ is being engineered to combine hydraulic performance, pollutant interception and passive environmental treatment within a single modular drainage material.

Designed for future Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) and resilient urban infrastructure, BRUMP™ aims to support cleaner water, improved flood resilience and more sustainable infrastructure performance.

Why BRUMP™?

BRUMP™ is exploring whether one integrated drainage material can deliver multiple infrastructure benefits simultaneously, including:

  • Improved stormwater management
  • Pollutant interception and passive treatment
  • Enhanced water quality
  • Greater flood resilience
  • Reduced infrastructure maintenance
  • Climate-resilient urban drainage
  • Sustainable infrastructure by design

Potential Applications

BRUMP™ is being developed for future deployment across:

  • Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)
  • Highway and roadside drainage
  • Water utility infrastructure
  • Urban regeneration projects
  • Commercial and industrial developments
  • Local authority flood resilience programmes
  • Climate adaptation infrastructure

Current Development Stage

BRUMP™ is currently progressing through TRL 2–3 feasibility validation to establish:

• Technical feasibility

• Material performance

• Hydraulic functionality

• Environmental treatment capability

• Manufacturability

• Commercial readiness

Partner With Us

We are actively seeking collaboration with:

• Water utilities

• Drainage manufacturers

• Civil engineering companies

• Infrastructure owners
