Dr Morufat Abimbola Li-Hammed is an environmental scientist and biotechnology researcher with over a decade of experience in microalgae biotechnology, sustainable product development, and ecosystem restoration. At Ecorem Tech, she plays a key role in applied research and product development, supporting the translation of scientific innovation into scalable, field-ready environmental solutions.
She holds a PhD in Botany (Biotechnology), with expertise in microalgae bioprospecting, bioformulation, and the development of high-value bio-based products for environmental and industrial applications.
Dr Li-Hammed contributes to the advancement and validation of Ecorem Tech’s core bio-innovation pipeline, ensuring product efficacy, ecological safety, and commercial readiness across diverse deployment environments.
She is also actively involved in Ecorem Tech’s Innovate UK-funded SEACoRe feasibility study, supporting the development of a circular bio-refinery platform that converts sustainably sourced seaweed into high-value bioactives, biofertilisers, and renewable bioproducts. Her work under this programme strengthens the company’s position in resource-efficient, circular bioeconomy innovation.
With experience spanning academic and international research environments, she brings a strong track record in environmental biotechnology, water sustainability, and applied research delivery. She has published in peer-reviewed journals and contributes to knowledge exchange and capacity building within the scientific community.
Dr Li-Hammed is a member of the Royal Society of Biology and the British Ecological Society.
